Two Weeks Before The Exam

By: Ridwan Sa’at
Taking an exam course really requires mental readiness and good time-management. This is the same situation when taking IELTS exam. To be successful in taking IELTS exam, what do we need to do? Here are some tips to do two weeks prior to the exam:
1. Review the general grammar points or structures. This is important as you are going to apply them in all sections of the IELTS, especially when it comes to reading and writing.
Understanding a text of some 700 to 900 words in multiple kinds of sentences needs you to be equipped with at least intermediate to upper-intermediate grammar skill. Not to mention that there are three texts to deal with in IELTS reading section. If you know that your grammar knowledge is below intermediate level, it is wise to take a preparation course a month or two before the exam.
Writing that is composed of two tasks also presses you to understand better grammar and sentence sense. You need to organize your responses in such a way that they are both interesting and well-organized.
2. Remember the tips and strategies. In this blog the tips and strategies have been discussed. You may refer to some of them that you think you need some brush up. If you happen to have completed some IELTS exam practice, you may notice the most frequent types of questions that appear in any section of the IELTS exam. Have a look at them one more time. Knowing this will make you accustomed to the test situation and have a good grasp at managing your time when taking the test.
3. Take enough rest and sleep a day before the test. A suggestion would be for you not to do anything on a day and night before the test. Try to do some relaxing activities such as watching movies, do swimming and eat good fresh food. And of course enough sleep at the night. If you do these, you will be certain that you are mentally ready for the exam.
Have a great time and good luck with the exam.
